When I think of success, I look at those angels (mentors) and shepherds (organizations) that offer resources and guidance to those seeking a new path.

One of those angels could be someone you met while networking or a colleague that showed up to be your guide. Rarely does one enjoy success without an angel or shepherd.

Here in Maui County, there has been one group that has consistently been there for small businesses. That amazing group is the Maui Business Brainstormers. They helped me a great deal when I landed on Maui literally feeling like I was on an island alone. It didn’t take more than one meeting for me to enjoy the riches of the resources shared, the how to’s and the support to move my business forward. They helped me with my presentation skills, marketing vehicles, where to find a location to teach a class, brainstorming my client system and how to “talk story” with my friends and neighbors in my new home.

MBB did hold monthly meetings where a group of small business owners and individuals would gather and learn about challenges that someone was experiencing. The challenge was then posed to the group so those in the room could brainstorm ideas and share resources for the individual. All answers were written on the white board and made available to take a photo of so that everyone could benefit from the content.

Since Covid-19, the meetings have gone online and are mostly workshops with speakers and content that have been useful to the small business community not only on Maui but all of Hawaii and the mainland.

The group consists of Maui small business owners and managers who meet to discuss ways to improve each other’s businesses. The group focus is to be an invaluable business resource and discussion platform for education purpose. Networking happens naturally in every meeting.

• Guest speakers donate their time and bring quality information to you.
• Sponsors’ generosity helps to make each meeting possible.
